January Snapshot

I'll be honest, I didn't think I was going to be able to write this post. In the past I've made promises to myself about goals and totally threw them to the side either due to laziness and lack of inspiration. However, this year I feel so much more determined to accomplish my goals and inspired thanks to some strong encouragers. That being said, this is my first snapshot post! I thought about how I wanted to write this because I feel like it should be a fun post not just about what I did or didn't accomplish. So before I get to the goals I'll share one fun tidbit!

January Goals

Happy Tuesday friends! This is my first post on goals for the year! I spent the majority of the weekend trying to break down what I need to do to get the business back up and running. I'll be honest, it's tough to look at. Although I have a some framework in place from before for most things, there's a lot that needs improvement. "Systems" were on my mind a lot because I don't think I've ever REALLY had one.

Brainstorming For 2018

Thursday was Raleigh's first snow day! It only snowed about an inch, maybe less, but North Carolina tends to panic and shut down at any sign of snow. Therefore, I also had my first day off from work. I was sure I'd be back to work on Friday since it seemed like most of the snow melted but the state was under another winter weather advisory because wind chills would be between 0-5 DEGREES!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year friends! It's crazy that it's officially 2018. I'm excited for the upcoming changes for this year. After being in Raleigh for 6 months, I've finally landed a permanent position. I've been working various temporary jobs since I moved here so I'm really excited and thankful that I'm able to kick off this year with a permanent job. I start tomorrow so wish me luck!

Photography Skills To Learn and Improve In 2018

Last week I shared that I am going to be continuing my journey or growing my wedding photography business! Over the next year I want to challenge myself to learn and improve on a few things that I know will be beneficial when I go back to photographing weddings. While I have a lot of knowledge about photographing weddings, it's never too late to learn something else, no matter how advanced you are.

Back To The Basics

The picture above is from 2014. The reason I used it for this posts is because, like the title says, I'm getting back to the basics - the basics of owning a wedding photography business. If you've been reading my blog for a while, you know it's no secret that I have gone back and forth battling with the idea of whether or not I should continue trying to run a small business or to just give up all together.

Weekend Wrap Up

This weekend really started on Wednesday with anticipation of my parents finally moving here to Raleigh. They've been planning this move for over two years and the day had finally come! Not only was it moving day for them but Thursday was my dad's 52nd birthday. How did they celebrate? Well, they would have spent it driving all day but thanks to my mom, the day ended up being just a little bit sweeter.

Movies Under The Stars

One of the items on my summer bucket list is to go to a movie in the park. I've never done this before and lucky for me I just found a treasure trove of information about movies in parks in Raleigh! Quick tip if you live in an apartment: ask your office if they have a community bulletin board, Facebook page, Instagram, etc. If they do, and actually keep it up to date, you'll be surprised with the amount of information you can find there.

Weekend Wrap Up

Happy Monday friends, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Mine was pretty good. I had been going a little stir crazy from being in the house most of the week so on Friday I decided to check out the state farmer's market. Being that it was the first farmer's market I've ever been to, I didn't really know what to expect. Of course, I knew there would be fruits and vegetables but I didn't know it would be as big as it was.

I Made It To Raleigh!

I made it to Raleigh! I'm a few days left in writing but if I'm being honest, I've been catching up on a lot of sleep! Working an 8-5 Monday through Friday, you don't realize how much sleep you're missing until you have a chance to actually relax. I've been taking mini naps everyday since I've been here and am really starting to feel refreshed. I'm so thankful!

2017 Summer Bucket List

Happy Monday friends! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I was busy packing up what I can for my first trip to Raleigh. I say first because I'll be back in Charlotte two weeks after I leave for a family reunion so I'll get most of the rest of my stuff then. Then I may need to make a third trip to my bulkier items after my parents finally move down. While I was packing I was trying to think of things to do this summer.
