May Adventures

’m not sure how it happened but May ended up being a real whirlwind of a month. Some things were planned while others weren’t but that’s part of the fun right?! As I get older, I’m realizing it’s harder and harder to connect with friends.. sometimes family too. Everyone works, has a family, multiple schedules, etc., so there’s not much room for spontaneity. Because of that, anytime a spontaneous/random trip happens, it’s always fun because you don’t know what adventure awaits you :)

Unpopular Photography Opinions

I read an article on FStoppers the other day about unpopular photography opinions and found it very interesting. Unpopular opinions meaning sharing an opinion about something related to photography, videography, or the industry in general that, if shared publicly, might cause you to get some backlash from others in the industry. FStoppers asked 29 current industry professionals what their opinions were and I was surprised at how many I actually agreed with or at least had my own opinion on.

It's Been A While...

Boy oh boy, how do I begin this? Well, first of all.. hey friends! Long time no speak! As you can tell from the title of this post, it’s been a WHILE. Life has been crazy. I moved to Raleigh from Charlotte in the summer of 2017 (I can’t believe it’s already been that long... WILD…) and threw myself into the photography world while also trying to work a full time job. I networked more than I’ve ever networked before and was able to meet and connect with so many talented people.

Joe + Jennifer | Married

You guys have heard me talk about my cousin Jennifer before. Well, this past September she married her best friend and love of her life and I got to capture the day! I couldn’t be happier for Jennifer and Joe. They are so perfect for each other in every way and my family is so excited to have Joe officially apart of the family. Here are a few of my favorite images from their special day!

The Meadows at Firefly Farm Preserve | Raleigh, NC Wedding Venue

A few months ago I decided that I needed to focus on more photography education and creating content that could help me grow in the off season. Styled shoots are a perfect way to to do that! When I went to my local Tuesday Together meet-up at The Meadows, I knew I had to shoot there one day. After meeting Stacia who owns Oak City Bridal (if you missed when I photographed her adorable boutique, you can view that here!) we decided to make the shoot simple, a little different, and overall..have fun and create beautiful content!

Weekend Wrap-Up

This weekend I headed out to Carolina Beach in Wilmington with my family! It was an after thought so we were there for less than half a day but I'm glad we went. If I'm not mistaken, the last time I went to the beach was 2 years ago when my brother and his the fiancee came down to visit from Jersey. We went to Myrtle Beach for the day and it was so fun! Carolina Beach is a lot smaller but just hanging out in the water with my nephew was SO relaxing. Honestly, both he and I felt so good after getting out of the water..and I mean literally. I think our skin got a little exfoliation treatment from the salt and sand, haha!

Weekend Wrap-Up: Birthday Edition

This weekend was my oldest brother's 36th birthday and my grandmother's 68th! Friday we celebrated Jihad with tacos (from the best taco truck in town), cake and ice cream. Fun fact, I make a cake for every birthday in my immediate family. It's almost always yellow or confetti with chocolate icing or if it's for my mom I may do carrot with buttercream :) On Saturday he headed out to DC for a sightseeing trip with my nephew's mentor group so my parents and I headed to Charlotte to surprise my grandmother for her birthday!

Oak City Bridal | A Unique Bridal Boutique In Downtown Raleigh, NC

At the beginning of the year I told myself that my ultimate goal for business this year was to connect and meet up with other vendors. Since February I've been going to the local Tuesday Together meet-ups and I've met some awesome people! One of those people is Stacia Wilson. Stacia owns Oak City Bridal in the downtown, Oakview neighborhood of Raleigh and her boutique is adorable! If Joanna Gaines designed a bridal shop, it would be this. Simple, elegant, and modern farmhouse inside and out!

Christopher & Tierney | A Classic Downtown Cary Portrait Session

Happy Monday friends! I'm so excited to be sharing Christopher and Tierney's portrait session with you today! I met these two back in April for lunch and I knew immediately that we clicked. We chatted about our growing businesses and how nice it was to be able to connect with people who share your passion. Time has flown by since that lunch date and our planned session came just in time for the hottest day we've had in North Carolina this year!

The Groom's Guide

Yesterday I asked newly engaged brides if they had any questions that I could write a post about that would help them as they pursue planning for their big day. Well, while I was brainstorming I thought that this post for grooms might be a good place to start. More often than not, the wedding day turns into the BRIDE'S day and the groom doesn't get too much attention. I think there is a stigma that grooms don't really want to be involved in the process and yes, sometimes that's true. But it's not all the time.
