Weekend Wrap Up | Sarah P. Duke Gardens at Duke University
Ever since I moved to Raleigh people have been telling me how beautiful Duke University is so last Friday I decided to go and check it out for myself. They were right. Not only the gardens are beautiful but so is the campus! I went to KEAN in NJ and although it was a nice looking school.. it ain't got nothing on Duke. It kind of looks like someone hired a Scottish architect in the gothic era to design it. It's really incredible.
Lucky for me, my dad recently got a job there so I have a free ride whenever I want to go and hang out for a day. If you decide to go, wear SNEAKERS. This is not light terrain and the gardens alone are something like 55 acres. They're open from 8am-dusk so you have plenty of time to explore both areas if you're feet aren't too sore.
I didn't realize how many photos I was taking until I looked at my card when I got home. I mean..like over 200. I can't remember the last time I took a picture of a flower unless it was apart of a bouquet. It was actually nice to photograph things just for fun and not for a job. I've been thinking the last few weeks that I've been going about blogging very wrong. This space started out as a photography blog, period. Any style, just photography. So I'm thinking about doing some more of these little day trips just to have an excuse to explore and take pictures. I think my passion will always be weddings and engagements so even when I am out exploring new places, I'm keeping them in mind for engagement sessions, haha. The campus is perfect for that so if you're engaged or even just had a one or two year anniversary, let me know and we can set up a date! Enjoy the images and happy Tuesday!
