Life Update: June 2017

Hey friends! So.. as you may have noticed, I haven't written on my blog in almost a year. Which is just a little bit ridiculous. I've been wanting to write for months but I never really knew what to write about. I've always struggled with what topics to write about on my blog and the last few months have probably been the hardest. When I was photographing weddings it was easy because the wedding would be the content - how I got this shot or that shot, or tips for brides. Well, other than second shooting and photographing my brother's wedding, I haven't photographed a wedding in at least a year.

I've read a lot of blogs where the writer is also some kind of small business owner and they always stress to you to have a healthy balance of work and personal posts. This makes sense.. if you're a small business owner. The thing is, I can't call myself a business owner if I'm not running one. Realizing this has helped me get my bearings again with what I want to write about on this blog. I still love everything about wedding photography and running a business but the reality is that I'm just not doing it right now. I'm actually more focused on creating, designing, and learning more about Squarespace. Whether that will become a business later in life is all up in the air but it's something I really enjoy and gives me a creative outlet outside of my job. That being said, this blog, for now, is just going to be a fun outlet for me to share what's happening in my life. For example, I'm moving to Raleigh in August! Yup. My parent's are also moving there and my oldest brother and my nephew are already there so I'm making the move to be closer to them.

My other brother, Jack, got married in April and I photographed the wedding. It. was. BEAUTIFUL. I think it's safe to say that it's my favorite wedding to date : ) I'll have to do a full post on it soon so you all can see what I'm talking about.

I'm excited for this new season of blogging because I feel like I have free reign over it. Before, I tried to limit as much as I could to wedding photography. Now that I'm not in business I don't really need to worry about that. I'm sure I don't have any readers right about now haha but I'm ok with that. This blog started out as me talking into an empty void about photography and now it'll start again as me talking into a new empty void. My hope is to have fun with this blog, live life, and love life with it and through it.

Happy Sunday!
