Being Busy and Being Lazy

I'm back! I feel bad that I haven't blogged at all this month so I'm finally taking time to finally write this post. I've been SO BUSY with birthdays, my job, getting a new job, starting the Fall semester at school and doing as much research as possible on weddings. Speaking of, the wedding is in 3 weeks and I am SO EXCITED and even more nervous but I'll get to that later.

For one thing I haven't been shooting much of anything because I haven't had the D600 and I don't get the same feeling of excitement or creativity that I would get with my little D3100. However, since I just started an independent study at school specifically on portraits so I'm going to have to learn to get over that weakness pretty soon. My other class is large format photography and its not at all what I thought it was going to be. I'll be honest, I don't really like it. I like film but for 35mm film not 4x5, its just not my cup of tea. On the other hand I like my teacher a lot because he challenges us in knowing your camera like the back of your hand especially for DSLRs and I have been really needing that direction, so I'm happy in that aspect.

As for being lazy, I haven't finished the "Understanding Your Equipment" series because, well I just haven't. I haven't really wanted to. I would rather write it when I have actual examples to show you guys rather than just writing about it and you guys not having any idea what I'm talking about. I plan on using Chris and Vanessa's wedding for a lot of examples in the next few weeks and months.

Speaking of Chris and Vanessa's wedding, like I said its in 3 weeks and I AM SO EXCITED. I feel like I'm actually doing what I want to do and because its going to be so small it will be great practice for more weddings in the future. A few updates on the wedding are I'll be shooting it by myself, I'm only renting flashes, an extra battery, pocket wizards and maybe an 85mm lens. I cant wait to shoot their portraits and be able to kill two birds with one stone because they'll be used for my independent study as well : ). Also like I mentioned I'm getting a great new job and I'm excited to say I start this week! I cant tell you how happy I am to start this job and finally get away from the mall.

SO that's what I've been up to and hopefully I'll be posting some pictures from my independent study and then of course the wedding : )

Happy Monday Everyone!
